Recently I got an email from the National Geographic asking me "What's on your bucket list?". Of course the NGS is actually trying to sell me a book about the "50 Places of a Lifetime" to visit. I have subscribed to the National Geographic since 1992 - but I think I'll skip buying this book.
However, it did get me thinking - what would my "Bucket List" of places of a lifetime? I'm not going to do a top 50, but I outline below the top 5 places that I have been, and the top 5 places that I have not been to that I really want to go to. What would be on your "Bucket List"?
Berlin, Rome & Sydney all well-worth a visit and would be on my top 50 too. But why Eugene, Oregon? Is it because you share a name?
ReplyDeleteI have alawys been underwhelmed by both Paris & New York. Grand Canyon is definitely on my list, along with Galapagos Islands, Machu Pichu, Serengeti, Kilmanjairo
Eugene, Oregon? I guess it is definitely a vanity thing. I imagine a photo of myself at the sign that says "Eugene". On a more serious note I have always been fascinated that there is a large city with my name - it was named after Eugene Skinner. The only thing I have in common with him is a shared first name.
ReplyDeleteI do have T-shirts from the University of Oregon which is based in Eugene - their baseball team is called the Eugene Emeralds. Being Irish and called Eugene - it seemed like the right thing to do to by their t-shirt!
The Galapagos - a Zoologists paradise?
I lived in Eugene for a while...it is not worth your time...debatable even for the pic. But a real bucket list WOULD be to drive down the Oregon coast, head over to Crater Lake and up to Mt Hood, then the Gorge. That's a week or so well spent and your camera will be busy.
